in defense of the physcotic.

i was just looking at the top britney spear's pictures of 2007, and i feel the need to take a second out of my day in attempt to... errr.. justify some of her actions.

now, not that i'm the biggest britney lover in the world (yes - radar was my december jam and yes - i really did love her and justin), but if you were followed by hundreds of paparazzi every second of the day, i think it would be quite easy to compile a list of 10 embaressing pics of you. as a matter of fact, if i was getting shots snapped of me constantly, you might even see my shaving my head, smashing cars with umbrellas, and/ or slipping margaritas into my car.

but it's just a thought.

2007, in numbers

this needed to be done. everything i've loved and hated in the past 12 months. give or take a few randoms.

10. ohnotheydidnt: theres something about watching other people crash and burn that gives me so much satisfaction. i don't know, just one of those weird sick and twisted quirks. ohnotheydidnt not only lets me watch which celebrating self mutilating via streaming video, it also posts pictures of nicole richie daily and exposes super scandalous deetz like the fact that b2k used to gangbang their managers. fact.

9. brooklyn: brooklyn topped my list in 2006 and continued strong in 2007. strong points include room 410 and it's constituents ("i love how you talk about our apartment like its a hotel"), bedford ave, jay z, and the L train. and who doesn't love spotting pseudo dudes in tight pants chain smoking and texting their equally as pseudo friends as you walk off the subway? i'm down.

8. san francisco: the 3 short days i spent in san francisco this past november made me decide that the west coast is truly the best coast. i know i am the avalanche name dropped that line in 'green eyes' but i really didn't believe it until i spent enough time there. i was also floored that the 101 is actually surrounded by an ocean on either side, and not a forest... insane.

7. driving: actually, to be honest, i hate driving. i want to cry when people honk at me and parking sucks dick. but it gets me from place to place and where else could i sing along to fergie without anyone witnessing it?

6. the label: i really just feel super fortunate to work with and for good people. isurrender is going to be big in 2008, don't sleep on it.

5. herbal essences expressions line: i'm not going to lie, this actually makes me look forward to washing my hair every night. not only do they have names like 'none of your frizzness' and 'color me happy,' it also smells SO good and they have interesting facts on the back of each bottle! oh yeah, p.s., i'm a nerd and read the back of my conditioner bottle. what of it?

4. my friends: i'm kind of awkwardly obsessed with my friends, but i just really like them. they're funny. i know 'my friends' is kind of a general statement, but i have five of so in mind. and between being drunk lovers in washington square park to $100 drink bills, we always manage to wreck some sort of havoc.

3. my mom: i really don't even feel like trying to look cooler than i am here, so i'm just going to openly admit that my mother is my most favorite person on earth. not only is she twice as pretty as me and 10x smarter than i could ever be, she also knows me better than anyone. and even when she wants to rip my head off, she is still the only person's opinion who i 100% trust.

2. my blackberry: i know, it is so weak that my blackberry is before my mom and friends. but don't hate, this list isn't in order. you can add macbook to this one too. not only is the bb totes profesh, it also hasn't died yet after 20 plus drops and a few encounters with water. not to mention that we're in love.

1. the internet: my love affair with the internet started too long ago to remember. the internet is like my best friend and worst enemy all at the same time, but in the end i know that we're forever. plus everytime i try to stay off it i only make it like 2 hrs.

r.i.p's of 2007

my hiplog: let's face it, my hiplog ruled. not only did it include detailed descriptions of what bands i met, what shows i went to, and which cool scene kids i met up with there.... it also boosted really pseudo deep emo quotes and lyrics! some were even homemade! did i mention it had pictures? i think the five people that lurked it definitely liked the shitty shots of OH MY GOD sonny moore from 30 feet away... except that with the sidekick's >1 megapixel camera, you couldn't really tell the difference between sonny moore and a chimpanzee. not that you could anyway, but i'm just saying.

pete wentz: i guess i should put an asterik next to this one, because pete wentz the human is still infact living and breathing at this very moment. however, pete wentz's hotness was left strictly in 2006. new additions like ashlee simpson and awkwardly bad man boots definitely brought him down, and the semi staged bad indie flick sex tape was even worst than seeing his dick on the internet. bye peteyx.

casey calvert: no jokes about this one, this is a sad matter. i met casey once and he was a solid dude and even if you didn't like his music or cutting your wrists and blacking your eyes or whatever you're going to make fun of, he was a great guy who gave everything on stage every night. r.i.p.

britney spears: i don't know, shes just over. i laughed when she shaved her head off, gasped when she molested a paparazzi's car with an umbrella, and stopped caring when she forgot how to dance at the VMA's. o-v-e-r.

scene queens: scene queens ended when audrey kitching stopped banging brendon urie. pink hair and metallic lamee jumpsuits were never and will never be cool.

and and and...

top five albums of 2007 (shut up, i'm still emo at heart):
let me just preface by saying that i think 2007 was a terrible year for new music and that it didn't even come close to touching 2006. with that aside...
in no order-
5. rise or die trying - four year strong
4. graduation - kanye west
3. myths of the near future - klaxons
2. infinity on high - fall out boy (i had to. sorry.)
1. even if it kills me - motion city soundtrack

happy '08 world.

Thank you.

you know exactly who you are
through all the nightmares
and anxiety scares
you played the role of superglue
when I was falling apart
